I Moved to Rural Japan. I Think This Is the Future.
Check out Saily and get 15% off: https://saily.com/janandyukari15 Why did I choose rural Japan—and why do I believe countryside living could be one of the smartest strategies for the future? In this video, I share an honest look at our life in rural Japan, without pretending that moving to the countryside is a perfect or romantic escape. I talk about my struggle to explain this idea authentically, how the internet and remote work have changed where we can live, and why modern technology can make a slower, more grounded lifestyle possible. Life in the Japanese countryside has given us more space, fresh food, regular exercise, lower living costs, and a stronger connection to our local community. We grow vegetables, receive food and knowledge from our neighbors, maintain our own home, and learn practical skills that are easy to lose in city life. I also explore why this moment may be especially important for rural Japan. Older generations hold valuable knowledge about farming, local traditions, and living with the land—but that knowledge will not remain available forever. Of course, countryside life also comes with responsibilities. Homes, cars, fields, and equipment require maintenance, while insects, animals, isolation, and fewer conveniences can take time to adjust to. This lifestyle is not for everyone, but for us, it has created a healthier and more meaningful way of living. Could you imagine leaving the city and building a life in rural Japan?
