Working in My Vegetable Garden in Rural Kyoto, Japan
I live in rural Japan and share the quiet everyday life of the countryside — from seasonal traditions and local food to simple moments in nature. In this video, I spend a sunny day working in our vegetable garden in rural Kyoto. Although Japan's rainy season has begun, the weather was beautiful, so I headed down to the field to check on the vegetables and do a few jobs around the garden. The tomatoes are growing well and should be ready to harvest soon. We also have several other vegetables growing, including beans and eggplants. Unfortunately, the local monkeys seem just as interested in the harvest as we are. Recently, monkeys have been visiting the fields more often and have already taken some of our vegetables. Many farmers in this area use large cages to protect their crops, and we're beginning to think it may be time to do the same. We don't use chemical weed killers in the garden, so part of the work involves pulling weeds by hand and keeping everything healthy as summer approaches. Life in the Japanese countryside often means living closely with nature. Growing food is rewarding, but it also comes with challenges, especially when wildlife decides to join in. I hope you enjoy this peaceful day working in a vegetable garden in rural Kyoto. ▼ You can also read more about my life and travels in Japan here. https://thomasfay.com/ #vegetablegarden #ruraljapan #countrysidejapan #farmvlog #countrylife
