Like trampled fallen leaves. That's how I felt when I first visited Eiheiji Temple. At that time, I think I had lost my place in the world, and was in a state of shock. I love the atmosphere of Eiheiji Temple, and sometimes I feel an overwhelming urge to go there. After my life changed drastically, I continued searching for my place, and before I knew it, I was practicing Zen meditation here. It might be an exaggeration to say I was saved. Just sitting quietly, observing myself from a distance. I still vividly remember the emotions that welled up inside me when I received the keisaku (the flat stick used to strike the shoulder). Even for a moment, in whatever form, there was someone who looked upon my existence. It seems obvious, but at that time, it was incredibly precious to me. At that moment, I realized that I still had the strength to move forward within me. This time, I walked through the quiet temple grounds, ate soba noodles, savored seafood, and finally, devoured yakiniku while enveloped in smoke. I didn't find anything particularly special. But I did my best with what I could do at the moment. For me, there is only one great happiness. It's still out of my reach. So today, too, I'll move forward little by little, picking up small fragments of happiness. With a mind and body balanced at Eiheiji Temple, I stood firm, smoked by the yakiniku smoke, at the end.
