Cinema at home: Fellowship of the Ring - recreating UGC cinema 2001 intro reel

Time to dip a toe in the 2000s! The first part of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy arrived on UK screens in late 2001, and stuck around well into 2002. Pretty much every mainstream cinema would have shown it at the time, with the flagship screenings held at the Odeon Leicester Square. I first saw it in the slightly less glamorous environs of my local UGC multiplex, which is the experience represented here (if you don't remember UGC - they inherited cinemas from Virgin in 1999, who had in turn taken over the MGM chain, who acquired Cannon's theatres, who had bought out ABC!) Thanks as usual to @35mmMovieTrailersScans, @FTDepot and @jonathanfroes8189 for selected trailers and ads. 00:00 Welcome to UGC Cinemas 01:13 Pearl & Dean ads 05:29 Trailers: Spider-Man, Scorpion King, Ocean's Eleven, Rat Race, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 15:51 Intermission 19:36 UGC / DTS / BBFC / Entertainment Film Distributors logos
