Spicy “Tenryu‑men” in Yaita and New Local Sweet “Tote‑yaki” in Shiobara Onsen

Driving off the Yaita IC in Tochigi, we head straight to Tenryu Drive‑In, a nostalgic roadside diner that has served locals for around 50 years. Their signature “Tenryu‑men” is a miso‑based mapo‑style ramen topped with plenty of vegetables, minced meat and tofu in a mildly spicy, thick sauce over a classic pork‑and‑chicken broth. After this comforting bowl, the journey continues north to Shiobara Onsen, where we discover “Tote‑yaki,” a new local sweet created by the hot spring town.
