Bearing design: single-row sealed radial ball bearing with a polyamide cage. Bearing dimensions: B - width - 13 mm D - outer diameter - 55 mm d - inner diameter - 30 mm G - bearing weight - 119 grams (0.119 kg) n - relative bearing speed - 13,000 rpm Bearing internal clearance: for bearing 6203 - 2.99 cm for bearing 6006 - 6.43 cm To calculate how much grease to pack into a bearing, first determine the bearing speed using the formula: A = n x dm (mm/min), where: n is the relative speed; dm is the average bearing diameter (D + d)/2; D is the outer diameter of the outer ring; d is the inner diameter of the inner ring. Thus, the bearing speed will be: for bearing 6203: A = 18,000 x ((40 + 17)/2) = 513,000 for bearing 6006: A = 13,000 x ((55 + 30)/2) = 552,500 Depending on the speed value and the rolling element shape (in our case, it's a ball bearing), the bearing speed is classified as: low (L): over 100,000 medium (M): over 300,000 high (H): over 500,000 very high (VH): over 700,000 As we can see, both bearings are classified as high speed (H) bearings. The amount of grease required for each bearing type as a percentage of its total internal volume is determined according to the table: 15-20% for the highest-speed (VH); 30% for high-speed (H); 50% for medium-speed (M); 90% for slow (L). Therefore, we will fill both bearings with grease equal to 30% of their internal volume, which will be: for bearing 6203 — (2.99/100) x 30 = 0.897 grams (rounded to 0.9 g) for bearing 6006 — (6.43/100) x 30 = 1.929 grams (rounded to 1.9 g) Insufficient lubrication leads to increased friction between metal surfaces and premature bearing failure. Excess grease in the bearing housing cavity leads to a rapid increase in temperature (especially at high speeds), negatively impacting both the bearing itself and the grease. Furthermore, excess grease can damage the lip seals and is often squeezed out of the unit. It should also be taken into account that grease serves not only as a lubricant but also as a coolant, and using grease that is too thick can lead to overheating of the friction unit.
