Rob Hornstra - Creating your own path as a photographer.
THIS VIDEO: Rob Hornstra is an example of someone who has forged his own unique path within a rapidly evolving photography world – as Sinatra pointed out, he did it his way. The rules of engagement have changed extremely fast during the past three decades. For anyone who is still holding onto the illusion of a 1980s-type career path, the probability of this happening is somewhere between ‘extremely low’ and zero. Hornstra has produced 26 publications, and spends his time working on really long-term documentary projects. But he hasn’t achieved this through the old strategy of waiting for commissions or being promoted by a big gallery. He committed himself to producing a certain type of work and then set about eliminating all obstacles in his way. Create your own system of crowdfunding your self-published books. During his final year of studies he travelled to Russia, documenting the lives of the first generation of young people who had grown up in the post-communist era. 1-on-1 MENTORING: https://graemewilliams.co.za/mentor-p...
