Probé si el Gallo Pinto de Costa Rica es mejor que el de Nicaragüa 🇨🇷🇳🇮
Is gallo pinto better in Costa Rica or Nicaragua? Today I put Costa Rican and Nicaraguan gallo pinto to the test to try and answer, as objectively as possible, which one tastes better. We tried a traditional Costa Rican gallo pinto with black beans, Lizano sauce, sour cream, meat in sauce, a hand-made tortilla, and drip coffee. Then we visited a Nicaraguan fritanga in San José to try the Nicaraguan-style pinto with red beans, grilled meat, cabbage salad, and fried plantains, accompanied by pinolillo. In addition to tasting both dishes, we investigated: • The possible origin of gallo pinto • Differences between black beans and red beans • Typical side dishes in each country • History of rice and beans in Latin America • How much gallo pinto costs in Costa Rica Is pinto from Costa Rica or Nicaragua? Is it really different, or is it the same dish with variations? This video isn't about fighting; it's about celebrating one of Central America's most important dishes. Gallo pinto is part of the identity of both Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and today we're putting them head-to-head. Now the decision isn't mine… it's yours.
