In the name of the Father, and of the Son ✠, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 🛐 ACT OF CONTRITION Infinitely Merciful God and Lord, without whose help we can do nothing, and our works are worthless, deign, O Lord, to grant that this worship I wish to render to your beloved disciple may be pleasing to you. Do not look, most merciful Lord, upon the gravity of my sins, which I humbly confess to you. Forgive me, O Lord, through the Passion and Death of your Most Holy Son and my sweetest Redeemer, through the tears of his Immaculate Mother, and through the martyrdom of your Apostle, for with all my heart I am sorry for having offended you, for you are infinitely kind, powerful, and just. I would rather die than have offended your immense Majesty; I firmly resolve to amend my life with your grace, which I hope for from your mercy, and to do all that is possible to live and die as a child of Holy Mother Church and a devotee of the Apostle James, and to praise you with him eternally in Glory. Amen. 🙏 Daily Prayer O most faithful disciple of the Divine Master Jesus Christ, who was chosen as one of the first pillars of the Church, through whose preaching and merits the Catholic faith was received and which it hopes to maintain until the end of the world, O Father and protector of all the faithful, acclaimed in all nations, I ask you to obtain for me the graces I so desperately need. Confirm me in the faith and in the holy fear of God that I so greatly need. Intercede for me before the Almighty so that He may grant me the favor I ask of you in this novena, and thus I may have one more reason to give you thanks in Glory. Amen. 5️⃣ FIFTH DAY Most kind Apostle and beloved of the savior of the world, who did not want to separate you from his side in the agonies he suffered in the Garden, and you owed him the sweet mercy of dissembling that you were sleeping while his Majesty, bleeding profusely with sweat, was praying; I humbly beseech you, that just as you, awakened from that sleep, knew how to repay the Lord for that rest with the labors, sleepless nights, and sweat of your apostolic ministry, even giving your life for Him, who had given His for you, so I, considering the great waste of time I daily commit by being asleep to the care of my soul and too awake to the things of the world, may open my eyes from this moment forward, to see how far I have strayed from the path the Master has taught us, and may I conceive a most effective resolution to be more vigilant for my salvation and spare myself no effort or sweat that leads me toward the spiritual good of my soul, and thus merit with you eternal rest. 🛐 State the grace you wish to receive with this novena, if it is for the glory of God and the good of your soul, and pray three Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and Glory Be. 🙏 FINAL PRAYER God, we beseech you to grant us, through the protection of your beloved Apostle, that we may come to enjoy eternal peace. Amen. Lord, sanctify and protect your people, so that, aided by the assistance of your Apostle James, they may be pleasing to you by their conduct and serve you in perfect tranquility of spirit.
