This time, I'll be visiting an abandoned hotel that I visited during my summer vacation 18-Ticket Ruins Expedition. This ruin is also known as "the largest abandoned building in the Tohoku region," and this huge abandoned hotel certainly lives up to that nickname. However, just getting to the hotel was extremely difficult. It was a full 2km walk from the station to the ruins, and I was even warmly welcomed by a fair number of insects along the way. All told, I think I walked like this for about 20-25 minutes from the station before arriving. Anyway, as you'd expect from a hot spring resort, this property has a unique bathroom, and if it were still in use, I would have wanted to take a dip in it. The rooms were also clean, and in some places had beautiful views, so I could imagine that anyone who stayed here would have been very satisfied. Then, while I was in the office looking at the financial statements of the company that operated the hotel... I was reminded once again that the collapse of the bubble economy was a huge economic disaster. The laid-back hot spring town scenery, the rooms that make you imagine how comfortable they would be to stay in, and the management and financial documents that evoke a glimpse of their former glory all evoked mixed emotions.
