Saturday, April 21st 1973. Footage of Nigerian military ruler, General Yakubu Gowon receiving Dahomean (now Republic of Benin) President Mathieu Kerekou at Lagos airport. President Kerekou was on a one-day official visit. President Kerekou, an army major who seized power in a military coup in October 1972, was met by cheering Dahomeans. Among the ceremonies was a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute. Source: Reuters News.
