Alvin Lucier - I am Sitting in a Room (1969) pf,: Hyun-Mook Lim https://buymeacoffee.com/hmlim === live at the recital "implexed music". held on 23rd February, 2023 / Institute of Adavnced Media Arts and Sciences, Gallery 1. this was performed as a part of my recital "implexed music". this recital was about our potential bodies from the past to the future. for playing this piece, instead of using the famous text ("I am sitting in a room, different from..."), I created and used my own new text, for emphasizing the theme of my recital. the used text is as below - in Japanese. for reading and repeating the foreign and exotic(?) Japanese texts, the certain pronunciations of this text could be emphasized rhythmically to non-Japanese/Asian listeners: "This is the last piece of this recital. this piece repeats endlessly. you can get out from here while I'm playing this piece. because my body from the past became finally free, and went travel to seek the body of the future. if my past self could find her own Implex (= potential body...a philosophical term from Paul Valéry), would she can think her body positively? for checking it, I also would like to travel to the future. but before that, I would like to make my voice to travel. I don't know what would this travel be like. but at least, if I can feel something positive through this travel, I willingly let my voice go to travel to the future.
