Cidade Velha: Onde Nasceu Cabo Verde 🇨🇻 | A História da Ilha de Santiago

In this second episode of my journey through Cape Verde, I continue exploring Santiago Island and visit one of the country's most important historical sites: Cidade Velha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The day begins in the markets of Praia, where we explore the Municipal Market and the famous Sucupira Market, two places where you can experience authentic Cape Verdean daily life. Along the way, we met Sílvio, a local guide who joined us for the day and introduced us to some of Santiago's most iconic places, sharing fascinating stories and insights that made this experience even more memorable. In Cidade Velha, we visit Fort São Filipe, the ruins of the old Cathedral, the historic Banana Street, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Pillory, discovering the fascinating history of the first permanent European settlement in the tropics.
