The MA-37 Microphone Origin - Sony C-37a Mini Documentary
The MA-37 is David Royer’s take on the Sony C-37a; Sony’s first large diaphragm condenser microphone. Heralded by engineers as somewhat of a blend between a ribbon and condenser microphone, it’s been used on countless hit records since its release in 1955. Coming up with the original design wasn’t easy! Sony’s engineers faced a series of component-sourcing setbacks and electrical engineering challenges. Learn more about the history of the C-37a and David's recreation in this mini-documentary. It’s not too late to vote (or edit your vote) for the Mojave MA-37 in this year's TEC Awards! Voting ends Feb 28th at midnight: https://voting.broadjam.com/vote/tec_...
