How to Design an RF Power Amplifier: Class F

This short video will provide an introduction to Class F Power Amplifier Design by first building a nonlinear device model and then using this model in a circuit simulation environment to generate the idealized “square” Class F waveforms. Further analysis using this model in a circuit simulator leads to unique insights into the fundamentals of Class F operation, including a new approach to analyzing and understanding the large signal waveforms using the Trigonometric Fourier Series. Finally, a practical circuit topology is shown to illustrate some of the design challenges involved with implementing this type of circuit at higher frequencies.
