The Hornstrandir Nature Reserve is located at the northwestern tip of Iceland. Since the 1950s, there have been no residents, roads, electricity, or radio signals in the area. It is accessible via a boat from the small town of Ísafjörður and can be visited as a day trip, though most hikers typically plan trips lasting 3 to 7 days. The boats operate only from the end of May to early September. The video documents a trip from August 14 to 25, including 6 nights in the tent. More hiking distance was initially planned, but heavy rain the first day led to a shortened route, resulting in around 54 km covered. Most of the hiking routes in this region involve crossing passes between peaks rather than summiting them. The mountains in the area range from 500 to 800 meters in height, with ridgeline passes at around 400 to 500 meters. The animal featured in the video is the Arctic fox, the only mammal in this region.
