We're back! And a lot has changed on the homestead... After a few weeks away, we're catching up on everything that's been happening at our Galician homestead — and there's plenty to cover. 🐷 Three new arrivals — our little piggies have landed, though they're not exactly loving the 20° temperature drop since yesterday! 🌿 Willow coppice: take two — we tried this a couple of years ago with 200 trees and it didn't go to plan. This time we're doing it smarter — 60 cuttings taken from our own willow, with cardboard mulch, wood chippings, and straw to retain moisture. We also show you the inspiration behind trying again. 🐔 Chicken update — the free rangers are back outside after bird flu restrictions lifted, the laying hens are back in full production, and our meat birds (Cornish crosses) are about a month away from the freezer. We also say a fond farewell to Lonesome George... 🌱 Polytunnel & veg beds — beans, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, peas, chickpeas, and more all getting going. Plus 250kg of potatoes planted in the neighbour's field, and a full maze season planned. 🍎 Orchard in bloom — apple and plum trees looking beautiful, daffodils have been and gone, and a new lawnmower means the grass is actually getting cut!
