Basilica di San Domenico, Perugia (1 di 3) - la chiesa

Primarily cultural, but with a light touch of controversy, this project, published on the fourth anniversary of the outbreak of the Meredith Case—a case that fascinated and attracted the attention of thousands of people to Perugia, certainly not because of its importance over the centuries—aims to re-evaluate the countless artistic works that characterize the city, which seem to be increasingly neglected. In a world where what intrigues and attracts is no longer something jealously bequeathed to us by our predecessors, but rather the pursuit of scandal and "bombshell" news, as if to hide far more serious problems, we seek to give voice (in the simplest of ways) to what often goes unnoticed. For this project, divided into three parts for ease of viewing, the Basilica of San Domenico da Guzman, the largest religious building in all of Umbria, was chosen. The first part describes the Basilica, its interior and its historical events; the second part describes the bell tower and its bells, while the last part describes the 17th-century organ (also of Umbrian origin), whose care and maintenance over the past 8 years has been entrusted to the dearest Giordano, to whom I extend my heartfelt thanks for his availability and the various musical performances.
