Marouf was born with cerebral palsy and was monitored by neurologists from the first months. By the age of two, he was able to hold his head up and roll over. Doctors believed he had potential for more, so they recommended his parents come to us for rehabilitation. Marouf's mother dreamed of him learning to sit. The center's specialists built the rehabilitation process around play. Marouf has favorite toys, which the doctors used to stimulate movement. He reached for them, crawled, and tried to grasp them with both hands. Occupational therapists also selected educational games and included his mother in the play so they could continue the activities at home. The boy enjoys drawing with crayons and playing ball with his mother, and the muscle tone in his arms no longer bothers him. Physical therapist Alexander Molchanov explains: "Within a week, Marouf was sitting up, leaning on his elbow. Two weeks later, he began to sit on his knees and stand up independently. We fitted him with specialized shoes to give him more stability. And after three weeks, Maruf learned to stand, holding on to a support with only one hand." Doctors recommend that children with cerebral palsy begin rehabilitation at an early age. Rehabilitation increases the child's motor activity and has a positive effect on psycho-speech development.
