A Christmas tree in chevrons and camouflage - for several years now, unusually dressed trees have been installed in the church of the St. Nicholas Monastery in Dubno for the Christmas holidays. The abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Merkury, says that he is constantly trying to implement new ideas. What are the only chevrons here, among which a patch with the image of Stepan Bandera also stands out. Next to the chevrons are camouflage balls donated by volunteers, and unusual toys that also symbolize the branches of the military. “In general, there are a lot of such patriotic and military Christmas decorations,” says the abbot of the monastery, “they simply did not fit.” This year, a new oak iconostasis was also installed in the church - and it also has patriotic elements. The iconostasis was carved by teachers and students of the Radyvyliv Vocational Lyceum. And it is not yet completely ready - several icons are missing and the other side is not decorated. The icons are painted by Dubno artist Mykola Tymchak.
