An Important Trail Opened In Lake County
The Hancock Trail has officially been extended north from its former terminus at CR561A, running past Sugarloaf Mountain Road, along CR455, and ending at the Green Mountain Overlook. This long-awaited expansion closes one of the final missing links in the Apopka Loop Trail, a planned 50-mile circumnavigation of Lake Apopka and the surrounding communities. With the Hancock Trail now connecting directly to the Apopka Loop Trail in Montverde, and another nearby gap set to close in the coming months to link the loop to the West Orange Trail, the vision of a continuous 50-mile network of paved and gravel trails is finally becoming a reality. This is a big milestone that’s been years in the making.
