This simple, homemade Hong Kong-style dish is guaranteed to be loved by everyone in your family, from children to the elderly, thanks to its savory, refreshing flavor and high nutritional value! In this video, Ati Cece shares tips and secrets for making a rich, milky white fish soup that doesn't smell fishy, ​​without complicated seasonings! All the ingredients for this everyday Cantonese dish are budget-friendly and readily available at the local market. This dish is perfect for our Hong Kong migrant workers who are just learning to cook or are looking for quick and practical everyday Hong Kong recipes. 📍Main Ingredients:📍 1. 100 grams of dried rice vermicelli/maisin 2. 1 large tomato 3. 6 each of yitan (fish balls) and yifu (fish tofu), or to taste 4. 1 package of ca yibei (fish skin chips), if needed 5. 2 fish (cak yi/crucian carp) 6. 1 stalk of shallot leaves 7. 5 cm of ginger (crushed) 8. 1 tablespoon of powdered chicken stock or adjust to the volume of soup you're making (taste test) 📍How to Make It:📍 1. Boil the maisin/vermicelli until cooked (follow the instructions for each product), then immediately wash it thoroughly with clean, cold water, drain, and set aside. 2. Wash the ginger and shallot leaves, then roughly slice/crush them and set aside. 3. Wash the fish thoroughly, then dry it using a clean towel. Then, fry it over high heat with ginger underneath, until it's half-cooked and golden brown on both sides. Then, add boiling water to cover the entire fish. Make sure the heat is still on high, and cook for 30 minutes with the pan tightly covered. Then, continue cooking for another 30 minutes over medium heat. Once the soup is ready, strain it using a strainer with very fine holes. 4. Boil the vegetables for 5 minutes. Once the water has returned to a boil, set aside. 5. Boil the yitan and yifu until hot. While waiting for the yitan/yifu to be ready, boil the maisin briefly, then remove from heat and place in a serving bowl. Add the yitan/yifu and white tofu, if desired. Add the fish stock/soup on the side.
