Spring Break Heat Wave at Crested Butte | Extreme Terrain Still Open

Crested Butte is in the middle of an unusual March heat wave, but there’s still great skiing if you know where to go. In this video we explore some classic terrain around the mountain and see how conditions are holding up during the warm weather. We started the day over on East River with laps through Double Top Glades and Resurrection, where the snow was already softening up early. From there we headed to the North Face Lift and dropped into Hawk’s Nest and the surrounding glades, which were skiing surprisingly well despite the warm temperatures. Later we made our way to High Lift for a run down Big Chute. After weeks of being locked up by a rain layer, the chute was finally starting to soften and ski well again. With the heat wave continuing across Colorado, it felt like one of the last chances to catch Crested Butte’s expert terrain in decent conditions.
