The Six Paramitas: 1. Generosity

What happens when you stop hoarding and learn to open your hands? Welcome to Part 1 of our new 6-week series on the Zen Paramitas - the transcendent practices that carry us from the shore of suffering to the shore of liberation. In this talk, I introduce the Paramitas and dive into the first virtue: Dana (giving/generosity). I explore how generosity can help us see through the idea of a separate self through describing both the traditional Buddhist forms of dana and my own personal experience on a 400-mile pilgrimage walk in the UK where I survived entirely on alms. I also discuss how the ultimate form of giving must start by offering honesty and space to yourself on the cushion. 💬 Join the Conversation: Do you find it harder to give deeply to others, or to give space and kindness to yourself? Let's discuss your insights in the comments below!
