The Zen of Being an Empty-Headed Fool!

In this week’s Dharma talk, I discuss a famous story about a monk who thinks he has the universe completely figured out. But when he meets the great Chinese Master Baso who asks him where he's from, he gets caught up in trying too hard. Baso immediately sees the monk's limitations and invites him to put aside his ideas and become an "empty-headed fool!" In this talk, I look at why Zen is fundamentally not about intellectual prowess, conceptual analysis or cleverness. It is about learning the radical art of letting go of your credentials so you can meet the universe as a stupid fool. 30min talk followed by a 15min guided meditation on the question: Where are you from? and sitting as a pure, empty-headed fool. 💬 Join the Conversation What is the biggest challenge you face with your physical posture when sitting?
