MGM/UA Home Video #M902355 Contents: Part of a closing scene and credits (CC) [you might notice that the copyright line at the end credits, and the name of the company said to hold copyright for the captions in the Line 21 data, reads "Pathe Entertainment, Inc.". As is mentioned in some MGM history portfolios, Italian fraudster Giancarlo Parretti, who had bought MGM after acquiring the Cannon Group, changed its name to "MGM-Pathe Communications Co." because he wanted to buy the legendary French film company Pathe; the French government denied him permission to buy that firm, though the sighting of "Pathe Entertainment, Inc." in the credits suggests that Parretti's ultimate goal was to eliminate the MGM name altogether in favor of Pathe. He didn't get his way THERE, either, as shortly before the start of the film's international release rollout, the French bank Crédit Lyonnais snatched MGM out of the hands of the eventually imprisoned Parretti. Today, MGM, as an Amazon division, survives, and Giancarlo Parretti doesn't get around Wall Street much anymore. In fact, "Thelma and Louise" could very well be described as the only hit of any real staying power to have come out during Parretti's sorry tenure as owner of MGM.—Ed.] Logo: MGM/UA Home Video Copyright screen
