Henry VIII: How far did intellectual and religious ideas change and develop and with what effects?
This video examines religion, religious ideas and intellectual ideas in the reign of Henry VIII. This includes the impact of Humanism, the spread of Protestantism and resistance to this as well as the continuity of Catholic belief and practices. Religion was a massively controversial area in Henry's reign with the split with Rome and dissolution of the monasteries. In 1547 England is left neither fully Catholic nor fully Protestant. This video is designed for A Level History Unit 1C, examining the key question and content on religion.
