1997年　信越本線碓氷峠ラストランあさま37号　乗り鉄

September 30, 1997, the day before the opening of the Nagano-bound Shinkansen, the final day between Yokokawa and Karuizawa on the conventional #ShinetsuMainLine #UsuiPass. This is a train-travel record of #Asama37, which would be the last run. This video compiles scenes from the train's departure from Ueno, the in-car announcements, the departure from Yokokawa, the farewell announcements, before arriving at Nagano, arriving at Nagano, and the out-of-service departure. Converted to FHD from a DV tape. Ueno, Yokokawa, and Karuizawa stations were chaos. After departing Yokokawa, there were loads of people, TV broadcast vehicles, and lights outside the window...I could clearly see myself in the Green Car, pointing the VTR camera outside, on a certain TV station's news report. I've blurred my face in the glass window. The announcement after departing Ueno shows the interior of the train, which is boring to watch, so I layered in some old photos. Some of these are from the time when it was possible to drive into Kumanodaira and drive all the way to the memorial across the tracks.
