Functions of a Coal Handling Plant Receiving and Unloading: Raw coal arrives by train or other modes and is unloaded into receiving pits or hoppers using equipment like wagon tippers and track hoppers. Crushing and Screening: The coal is then crushed to a specific size (e.g., 20mm) to be suitable for the pulverizers in the boiler.
