Erzurum Havalimanı'ndaki Ilyushin Il-76'nın Tüm Detayları!

Following the earthquake in Van on October 23, 2011, many countries began sending aid to the region by plane. When the aid planes filled the parking spaces on the Van Ferit Melen Airport apron, they were diverted to airports in surrounding provinces. Georgia's aid plane was one of these. On October 30, 2011, an Ilyushin 76 cargo plane belonging to Sky Georgia, bringing supplies from Georgia, was on the Erzurum Airport apron. There were many other cargo planes bringing aid from other countries on the apron. The wingtip of an Ilyushin 76 cargo plane, also bringing aid from Kyrgyzstan, struck the cockpit of a Georgian plane. Shortly after this ground accident, the damaged wingtip of the Kyrgyz Ilyushin 76 was repaired, and the plane returned to the skies. The plane, which changed hands in 2013, is currently registered in Moldova and continues to fly. However, the Sky Georgia Ilyushin 76 sustained severe damage to its cockpit. Following inspections, it was determined that this aged 1984 aircraft would never fly again due to the high cost of repairs. The Georgia-based company, however, took no action regarding the damaged aircraft, and the giant cargo plane remained on the Erzurum Airport apron for 11 years.
