I always read this parable thinking the moral was simple: stay awake, don't doze off. Then rereading Matthew 25 I got stuck on verse 5, which says ALL ten fell asleep. The wise ones snored just like the others. I thought: if the mistake was sleeping, all ten would be lost, but only half ended up locked out.
