Out of the Dark Cloud: Women's Spirits Unbroken
This documentary highlights the resilience and determination of women in Sudan as they continue to advocate for inclusive and sustainable peace after years of civil war between the Northern part and Southern part of the country. During the liberation struggle, women played diverse and critical roles. Some joined the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) as combatants, driven by experiences of oppression and discrimination. Others supported the movement from behind the lines, sustaining families and communities, and ensuring survival in the midst of the war. This film documents women's lived experiences during the armed conflict in Central Equatorial Guinea State, particularly in Juba County, South Sudan. It sheds light on the abuses and violations women endured, while also amplifying their voices, strength, and ongoing struggle for justice, peace and recognition in post conflict rebuilding.
