Sands of K’gari.. Island Boat Camping Adventure..

A long overdue catch up with a great mate !! We headed out to K'gari for a couple of nights looking for some muddies and some sandflies haha :) No shortage of the latter !! The island is considered to be the largest sand island in the world at 1,840 square kilometres (710 sq mi). It is also Queensland's largest island, Australia's sixth largest island and the largest island on the east coast of Australia. During World War II, the island was used by the Services Reconnaissance Department (popularly known as "Z Special Unit") as a special forces training camp. The island was part of the traditional lands of the Badjala people before European settlement. "K'gari" in the Butchulla (Badjala) language means paradise :) It most certainly is :)
