Optical Properties of Nanomaterials 12: Thin films
Lecture by Nicolas Vogel. This course gives an introduction to the optical properties of different nanomaterials. We derive fundamental relations describing the interactions between materials and electromagnetic radiation and discuss the resulting optical properties for dielectric, metallic and semiconducting particles. This chapter discusses structural color arising from interference effect of light waves interacting with thin films. It includes: Thin film interference Structural color by constructive interference Anti-reflective coatings from destructive interference Multilayer interference Examples from nature and technology Particle-based thin films and multilayers Learn more about optical properties of colloid al particles at: https://vogellab.de/ Learn more about the study programs at FAU: https://www.cbi.tf.fau.de/studium/stu... https://www.map.tf.fau.de/ Institute of Particle Technology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg: https://www.lfg.tf.fau.de/institute/ Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg: https://www.cbi.tf.fau.de/
