FrontRunner 2X Project: Why Double Track?
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) are partnering to add more capacity to the region's commuter rail system to support the transit demands of rapidly expanding communities along the Wasatch Front. This project will implement double tracking in 11 strategic locations, add one new station, realign track in one location, and add 10 new trainsets along the FrontRunner line, increasing train frequency and travel time reliability.
