Starting from the myths of Narcissus and Pygmalion, Mihnea Măruță shows us how social networks seduce us. He was born in 1969 in Cluj and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the "Babeș-Bolyai" University (UBB). After the 1989 revolution, fascinated by what was happening in the public space, he abandoned the Faculty of Mathematics, where he was a second-year student, and became a reporter, then editorial secretary at the magazine NU – a weekly that lasted until December 1993. He worked in the press for more than 20 years – during which time he was, among others, editor-in-chief of the newspapers Cotidianul (2007-2008) and Adevărul (2012). In addition to the two national newspapers, he also led the weekly Clujeanul, the daily Ziarul Clujeanului, as well as the online publications Oradecluj.ro and PressOne.ro. In 2021, he received his doctorate in philosophy, under the guidance of Professor Aurel Codoban. He currently teaches the Philosophy of Communication course at the Department of Journalism of the "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca. In 2023, he published the book "Virtual Identity" by Humanitas Publishing House, which is an adapted and enriched version, through multimedia means, of his doctoral thesis.
