PEFINDO Rating Director Hendro Utomo stated that uncertainty due to geopolitical risks is creating market volatility, and hawkish monetary policies with interest rate hikes could restrain economic growth and maintain high bond yields. Furthermore, rising inflation is expected to depress business activity and reduce financing needs. In response to this and in an effort to encourage investment in the domestic market, the government is expected to maintain the fiscal deficit below 3% of GDP to maintain the credibility of its fiscal management and reduce the need for new financing.
