Trackmaster Talking Salty unboxing review and first run
Hey Guys and Gals I picked up this Trackmaster Talking Salty today and you see the whole process of unboxing and its first run, I also share my thoughts. I paid $30 for this engine which is quite expensive but still cheaper than a greatest moments engine which costs $35, Salty is a dockyard diesel who often works at the quarry with mavis, he features in allot of episodes and is a main character towards the end of the model based series. In the show he is a small 6 wheeled diesel with traction rods connecting all the wheels, the model is a 4 wheeled locomotive and its nice that they include him with traction rods as they did in the TOMY and regular Trackmaster versions. He says a number of phrases when you push the button and when motoring along, holding the button while he moves causes him to beep his horn twice. He runs smoothly and quite quietly and runs faster than Talking Gordon, he is taller and wider than the regular version and he is also very long due to the design of the truck that he hauls containing the batteries. A consequence of this is that he does not fit through the TOMY watertower track or on the Trackmaster motorized Tidmouth sheds turntable, this I feel can be forgiven though as his main purpose is to motor around and speak and make variuos sounds which he does very well, the speaker is fairly loud (louder than gordon) and the sounds can be heard clearly even on the other end of the layout. He is really needing some details added like a white running plate and silver handrails but i said the same about Talking Gordon I feel a premium engine like this needs extra detail to justify the price, having said that I do like the new type of horn on his roof. I give this talking engine an overall score of 8/10 the lack of some details, it not working properly at first and the not fitting on the turntable all hurt the score, this is still a very good score though as its an excellent runner and looks great when traveling along (as you can see in the video). Thanks for watching!! Love to hear your comments peoples!!
