These days, when it comes to vintage cars that are incredibly popular, it's no exaggeration to say that air-cooled Porsches and Jaguar E-Types are the ultimate examples. Wana Drive in Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, had plenty of these popular models. A 1973 Porsche 911 E, fully restored by Mitsuwa, a former authorized dealer. A gleaming Series 1 Coupe Jaguar E-Type, considered one of the most beautiful cars in the world, and with right-hand drive, was also a popular choice. Furthermore, there were many other desirable cars, such as a 1973 911S and a 1960s 356, that would make any car enthusiast drool. However, what caught our attention were the Autech Zagato Stelvio and the Saab 900 Convertible. Regarding the former, I'd seen the bright red version at various motor shows, thinking it was an unusual car, and that Japan must have been doing well economically back then. However, seeing the car in natural light was a completely different experience from seeing it indoors. First, the navy exterior color gave it a fresh feel, and I was surprised to see that the bulges on both ends of the front hood had fender mirrors. The interior was pure white leather, making me hesitate to sit down. The finish was reminiscent of the interior of a luxurious house, and I never felt like it was a Nissan Autech car. However, seeing the Japanese labeling on the air conditioning and other switches made my brain glitch. Furthermore, I took the wild Autech Zagato out on the road and enjoyed a taste of the modified VG30DET engine. How did it taste? Finally, I also tasted a pristine Saab 900 Convertible. A full four-seater open-top car, now an endangered species, and a Saab, which has gone extinct—it evoked a strong sense of nostalgia.
