NO INTERNET... JUST WE! ๐ฌ๐พ | Growing Up in Guyana (1980s Memories)
โฝ๐ฌ๐พ NO INTERNET... JUST WE! Growing Up in Guyana (1980s Memories) Do you remember when the whole village was your playground? Before the internet, smartphones, video games, and social media, children across Guyana spent every afternoon outdoors making their own fun. All we needed were our friends, a tennis ball, a skipping rope, an old bicycle tire, and a little imagination. "NO INTERNET... JUST WE!" is a heartfelt tribute to the unforgettable childhood of growing up in Berbice, Demerara, Essequibo, and villages throughout Guyana during the 1970s and 1980s. From cricket in the dusty roads to hopscotch drawn with chalk, from Ready Catcha and Rounders to Hide and Seek, Banga (marbles), Jump Rope, High Jump, Long Jump, rolling old bicycle tires, Dolly House, and sitting under a mango tree asking riddles and questionsโthese simple games created lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. There were no screens to keep us indoors. The streets were filled with laughter, neighbors looked out for every child, and every afternoon became a new adventure. This song is dedicated to everyone who grew up in Guyana and remembers a time when childhood was measured by sunsets instead of screen time. ๐ต Featured Memories Growing up in Guyana during the 1970s and 1980s Village life in Berbice Playing cricket with bamboo stumps and a tennis ball Hopscotch on dusty village roads Rounders and Ready Catcha Hide and Seek Banga (marbles) Jump Rope High Jump and Long Jump Rolling bicycle tires through the village Building Dolly Houses Sitting under a mango tree asking riddles and questions Community, friendship, and outdoor adventures Life before the internet, smartphones, and video games ๐ฌ Share your memories in the comments!
