Vishehrad Castle is located a few kilometers from the center of Prague, on the right bank of the Vltava River. The structure was founded on a raised cliff, giving it a characteristic name. Translated from Czech, "Vishehrad" means "high castle." This place is the origin of not only Prague, but the entire Czech Republic. The towers of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, built within the fortress, are visible from various parts of Prague. It's hard to miss. The height of the fortress's brick walls averages about 10 meters. The fortress itself rises on a rocky hill, which drops steeply to the Vltava River. This creates a visual effect of immense height and impregnability. We will return to the history of Vyšehrad and the events that took place there many times.
