I, Grandpa Alexey, have been gardening for sixty years, and I'll tell you the most important thing, which I myself realized a bit late: as long as ants are running around the bush, the aphids won't go away. An ant tends aphids like I tend a cow, feeding on their honeydew and protecting them from ladybugs. That's why folk remedies against aphids alone aren't effective: you need to attack the ants and aphids together, and in the right order. In the video, I show how to sever an ant with a trapping belt on a tree trunk, how to destroy a nest with sweet bait, how to properly dilute a soap solution from laundry soap and when to spray it to avoid burning the leaf. I discuss the old-fashioned infusion of onion peels, ash, and tobacco dust, three common mistakes, and my own, which I still feel ashamed of. And honestly, there's no such thing as forever in the garden; aphids and ants are a seasonal chore, not a single magic bottle. But it's safe, inexpensive, and you won't poison the ladybugs and bees.
