Paraone Gloyne - He Mumu Reo 2019
The revival of te reo is not a short-term job but a long-term one. That's the challenge says Paraone Gloyne of Ngāti Raukawa. The first speakers of te reo such as our kuia and koroua are dwindling in numbers and soon a new form of the reo will be spoken by the future generation. Nor does he see it as a problem. He says the tide is turning and more non-Māori are becoming students of the language and that can only help to keep the language alive because Māori alone won't be able to sustain it.
