I live alone in the mountains with animals – a simple and tasty recipe from my village

A beautiful morning here in my mountain village. Surrounded by animals with kind souls and peaceful views, life moves at a different rhythm – simpler, but full of meaning. I started the day early, installing the metal sheets on the roof of the hay barn. In the past few days, I added the wooden boards, and step by step, the barn is coming together nicely – soon ready to store hay bales. After finishing the work, I felt it was the perfect moment to cook something good, both for the dogs and for myself. I arranged some bricks in the yard to make a larger cooking space and got to work. For the dogs, I made a tasty meal of pearl barley, chicken liver, and a bit of pork ham – something filling and flavorful. For myself, I cooked cabbage with pork ribs, and to make it complete, a traditional Romanian polenta from pure cornmeal. It turned out excellent – I ate with real appetite, a simple dish but incredibly tasty. Tarei’s puppies are growing fast and beautifully. There are five of them: four boys and one girl. With their playful eyes and clumsy steps, they’re beginning to explore the surroundings and learn from their mother what life is like here in the mountains. They bring me so much joy, and I know they’ll become loyal companions and good guardians for the homestead. All the creatures here are well, each in their place. Life in the mountain village flows differently. I’m glad to share these moments, and I hope the peace from here reaches you through the screen, wherever you may be.
