Rush Hour Trains at: London Marylebone, CML, 25/02/26

A very enjoyable evening spent at London Marylebone on the Chiltern Mainline where we see plenty of services from Chiltern Railways. The station was opened in 1899 and was originally the terminus of the Great Central Mainline, this line would link up to Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester. This was the last terminus station in London to be built and is one of the smallest in the city. But it copes rather well, the station was opened with only half of the platforms built than was originally planned for, but this was never changed and likely never will be. The station does have a link to the London Underground network via the Bakerloo Line, most other stations have links to several underground stations. When the GCML was closed it actually throw the life of the station into doubt and because of the lack of traffic coming into the station along with the lack of passenger numbers the station was actually threatened with closure and it would have been if not for a line going from London to Aylesbury which started bringing in large passenger numbers which eventually saved the station and over the course of several years it eventually became a very important station when it became the main terminus of the then new Chiltern Mainline. This is the only terminus station in London to have non electrified track, everything is diesel operated and as things currently stand its set to stay that way for a long period of time. My next rush hour film will be from Crewe on the West Coast Mainline.
