It is one of Asia's largest Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) hubs, with a total construction area of approximately 453,000 square meters and a station layout of 11 platforms and 24 tracks. The station was launched to gradually take over the regular-speed train services from the existing Guangzhou and Guangzhou East stations, thereby facilitating their future transformation into high-speed rail terminals. Guangzhou Baiyun Station serves as a terminal for multiple lines, including the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway, Guangzhou-Maoming Railway, and the future Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway and Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, significantly enhancing the passenger capacity of the Guangzhou hub. The station complex spans 7 levels (3 above ground, 4 underground), facilitating seamless, multi-level transfers between national railway services, the metro (currently connected to Shitan Station on Guangzhou Metro Line 8, with more lines planned), buses, long-distance coaches, taxis, and private vehicles. —————— Zhanjiang Lu Goose (Zhanjiang Rolled Goose) is a highly distinctive and traditional famous dish from Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, particularly renowned in the Wuchuan area. The character "Lu" (碌) in Cantonese means "to roll," which precisely describes the core cooking technique: the entire goose (often after being briefly pan-fried or blanched to tighten the skin) is placed into a wok with a rich, aromatic sauce typically made from soy sauce, rock sugar, garlic, ginger, star anise, cinnamon, and other spices. The goose is then cooked over low heat while the chef continuously "rolls" and turns the bird, repeatedly basting it with the sauce as it reduces. This time-consuming "Lu" process ensures the meat thoroughly absorbs the complex flavors and the skin achieves a uniform, glossy, deep reddish-brown color as the sauce thickens.
