Henry's Story - How the North West Air Ambulance Charity saved Henry's life
Nine days before his second birthday, while walking with his mum and auntie, Henry was hit by a car after falling into the road. Rob, Henry’s Dad, rushed to the scene: “My heart just sank, and I just thought, I’ve lost him.” He suffered multiple facial and skull fractures, chest and lung injuries, internal bleeding, and a lacerated spleen. Due to the seriousness of Henry’s injuries North West Air Ambulance Charity was dispatched. The doctor and critical care paramedic on board performed enhanced pre-hospital care. They provided an emergency anaesthetic, a blood transfusion and minor chest surgery. Because of these interventions, Henry could be taken to the nearest children’s major trauma centre.
