Senator Cleitinho (Republicanos-MG) defended in the Senate tribune the reopening of the debate on the application of the death penalty in Brazil, motivated by the repercussions of the death of a 10-month-old baby under suspicion of sexual violence in Fortaleza. Acknowledging the constitutional impediment due to it being an entrenched clause, the parliamentarian suggested convening a new Constituent Assembly to make this extreme punitive measure viable.
