Our journey this time took us to the Dayak village of Teluk Mayang, North Barito, a village in the interior of Central Kalimantan that is experiencing an extraordinary fruit season. When fruit season arrives, almost every tree in this village is in full bloom. The usually quiet village transforms into a paradise of Kalimantan's unique fruits. We found many fruits rarely found elsewhere. Among them were Red Durian, Leko Durian, Layung, Karatungen, and various types of sour fruit typical of the Kalimantan forest. Most uniquely, when I wanted to buy fruit in this village, the seller was confused about the price because there was so much fruit and almost everyone had their own fruit tree 😄. This is the simple atmosphere of Dayak life during fruit season. Togetherness, abundant nature, and local wisdom that is still preserved to this day. Hopefully, this simple journey can invite us all to learn more about life in the Dayak villages in the interior of Kalimantan.
