Analiza wypadków USPA - 3 zdarzenia: brak otwarcia głównego i zapasowego,

Why do experienced skydivers die without deploying a single parachute? In today's article, I examine three tragic incidents from 2025, collected by the USPA and discussed in Parachutist magazine by Jim Crouch. All three cases were classified as "No-Pull"—situations in which the jumper failed to initiate the deployment of either the main or reserve canopy until the very end. I analyze these incidents in more depth than dry statistics. I discuss escaping psychophysical self-awareness, training errors, equipment fashions, and why the "miniaturization" of containment can become a death trap. ⏱️ Timeline / Table of Contents: [00:00] – Introduction and the aging of skydiving. [00:55] – Case 1: 76-year-old veteran (1,000+ jumps). Why didn't he find his pilot chute? Shoulder girdle mobility and running out of time. [04:39] – A nasty accident: The psychology of fighting for the pilot chute and the blurring of decision altitude. [11:11] – Case 2: A 45-year-old (200 jumps) and his first solo wingsuit jump. What went wrong with the backspin? [17:38] – Why might universal automatic airbags (AADs) fail to work on modern wingsuits? Terminal velocity vs. aerodynamic physics. [23:14] – The mystery of a torn release handle (3-ring) without canopy deployment and the trap of the RSL system. [27:05] – The illusion of statistics: Why license interpretation (A, B, C, D) can be misleading. [31:46] – Case 3: A 76-year-old (230 jumps)'s second solo wingsuit jump after a long break. Automatic system activation and a jammed reserve pilot chute. [34:59] – The dark side of equipment miniaturization. The pressure of container appearance (Mirage, Icon, Vector) and maximum reserve size. What's happening under the flaps? [41:19] – Cognitive problems (skydiver's CPU), "fashion show," and the pursuit of dopamine instead of professional education. [46:08] – Summary and thanks to channel patrons. 🧠 Key conclusions from this analysis (CRM & Safety): The shoulder girdle is your life: The physical fitness and flexibility of the shoulders decrease drastically with age. If you can barely reach the pilot chute on the ground, you may not find it in the air (with a distorted silhouette). The end of the struggle at decision altitude: Failure to find the pilot chute is a nasty failure. Skydiving education must emphasize immediately ceasing the search and initiating rescue procedures at the designated altitude. Hardware must work, not look good: Stuffing the maximum allowable reserve size into a too-small, "trendy" container drastically increases drag and can prevent the spring from retracting the pilot chute – even after the automatic system cuts the loop. 💬 Join the discussion: Where do you think the line lies between "wanting a nice, tight container" and pure parachute common sense? Do you agree that the current 200 jumps in large centers don't build the same respect for procedures as the slow, club-based training of old? Leave your comment below!
